Proverbial Popular Demand
So the copies of the 'zine sold out. we slapped ourselves on the back and thought that the worldwide demand had probably been sated. How wrong we were.
Now, some reviews later and courtesy of lots of nice word of mouth, we are getting several disappointed messages a day from prospective readers. Suitably chastened, we are happy to consider a second printing if there is enough interest. If you are one of the unlucky few who did not get a copy first time around but would take a second bite of the cherry, please just drop us a one line email to register your interest and if there are enough of you we will bow to popular demand...
Meanwhile, we are arranging a little celebratory do in London for next Friday August 6th - more details over the weekend!

Please do print another 500 copies, they will definitely sell out again very quickly:)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I would suggest is that you mark them "second edition" (and also maybe white instead of black cover, just to highlight this), then many completists like me who bought the first printing, will also want to buy the "second edition"!
And MANY Felt fans are completists, in fact you could follow this up with 3rd, 4th and 5th editions (all in different colour covers) and we'd probably all still buy them:)
(seriously)
Yeah, I agree with that completely! I'm sure most of the Felt reissues over the years have been bought by the exact same people.
ReplyDeleteJust be sure not to print a 'two editions in one' version with butchered artwork like that version of 'Forever Breathes...' that was around a few years ago. Horrible.
Isn't the point of a 2nd pressing so that all the people who missed out before can get a copy? Not so all the people who already own it can get a second copy.
ReplyDeleteI despair!
Don't despair!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they'll be enough of the 2nd pressing for everyone if you get in quick enough:)
I do like the idea of 2nd pressing being marked as such though, and having a white cover instead of black!
Haha
ReplyDeleteplease reprint it! i want one nowwwwww! and i didn't hear anything about this great release. just saw it! arghhhhh :( :(
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of this until a few days ago but ofcourse i became very interrested, so it was sad to see that it's just out of print. I'll order one the same moment you decide to reprint it :)
ReplyDeleteYES! would love a 2nd printing
ReplyDeleteTrue about the reissues - I bought every bloody one and (feather in my cap);-) it was me who pointed out the dodgy tracksplitting in two of "The Splendour Of Fear" reissues - as the test pressing for the latest issue also had it too! They corrected it for the latest issue.
ReplyDeleteI remember showing that two-in-one Rough Trade Germany monstrosity to Lawrence when I bought it. He casually dismissed it with the dogmatic "that's a bootleg!" The one good thing about that cover is that on the back it's the only one that features Phil King pictured - and you don't have to figure him out from his silhouette either!
completely missed this. grrr. another run please. i would even sell some for you if you want. own a record shop and guess what's on one wall? all 10 felt lps framed plus a ticket from the last ever felt concert. of course i want one. e-mail 'jeffdoherty_98@hotmail.com' if you're interested....p.s keep up the good work.
ReplyDeletePlease, please do a second run - I only discovered this site after the initial run had sold out and I know a number of other people who would love a copy besides myself!
ReplyDeleteRight, firstly, Lee, stop showing off LOL:)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, where is this shop with Felt LP's on the wall?
Thirdly, I honestly do think it should mention "2nd edition" somewhere in/on the new edition. I also still like the white cover idea, but realise that's just not going to happen:)
Re me showing off - Guilty As Charged LOL ;-)
ReplyDeleteLee, but do you have vinyl versions of "Poem of the River" from 5 different contries, like I do LOL:)
ReplyDeleteI think this one will go to penalties LOL;-)
ReplyDeleteRight here goes then, for starters what about the original Spanish LP version of "Crumbling..." on the Edigsa label!
ReplyDeleteGot anything rarer than that LOL:)
"Secondly, where is this shop with Felt LP's on the wall?"
ReplyDeleteDragon Records in Belfast, as can be seen here http://gogogirlsnames.blogspot.com/2010/08/felt-corner-and-make-up-manifestation.html
C, that looks just superb:)
ReplyDeleteAlthough seems to be missing "Forever..." and "Poem...."!
And I wondered where it was as I'd never seen it, and think I've been in every record shop in England:)
OK anonymous, if you insist - chortle.....French test pressing of "Penelope Tree" with unreleased demo version of "Sunlight" on the B-Side. Cassette of "Bubblegum Perfume" with misprinted covers rescued from a Creation box that was about to be destroyed. Best of all - signed copy of "Index" - had the record on me when I met Lawrence by chance in Virgin Megastore - he later told me it's the only one he's ever signed.
ReplyDeleteSeconds away.....;-)
Since you're here: can you shed a light on the Space Blues 7"? Does it really exist? I've never seen it myself.
ReplyDeleteBy the way: Lee, I happen to own your 12" on Creation. Does that give me any points? It's well good by the way!
OK Lee, have you got the German Back in Denim LP with the names only on label, no Denim logo like UK version! (although sleeves are the same)
ReplyDeleteAnd have you got that Penelope Tree demo with blue AND orange label versions like I have LOL:)
That Bubblegum Perfume casette is indeed rare though, and you may have one of the only ones!
And by the way Lawrence says that to everyone when he's signing their copies of Index;)
Oh, and I've never seen that 2nd version of the Space Blues 7" either, anyone got one?
No Idea re the Space Blues 7" I'm afraid - and no, I just bought the basics re Denim - much prefer Felt - although I do have the 7" and CD of "Summer Smash"
ReplyDeleteI've got the Space Blues 7" in white Creation sleeve (and the price 75 p or something) with a hole where you can see the etiquette of the record.
ReplyDeletematsrep
Christian - you lose points by sauing it's well good ;-) - the B-Side ain't bad but the A-side is bloody awful! Counterfeit reformed to record some demos earlier this year - all fell apart before anything was finished and any gigs were played. Same old shit.
ReplyDeleteLooking again at Rui's site, that 2nd 7" version of Space blues doesn't exist!
ReplyDeleteInteresting fact about the banned/never officially released Denim "Summer Smash" single, it was only ever released in Ireland!
At the time I worked in a chain of record shops and noticed even though it was never released in England/Wales/Scotland, it was released in Ireland, so I did a store to store transfer of the 7", and later that week registered the only official sale of the 7" in England. Yes, it was me, after all these years I own up, I broke the ban LOL:)
Lee, don't be so fussy and give the record another chance. It's fine!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere deep in the recesses of my archive I have on the old fashioned format of tape the unreleased "Stress Mix" of the A-Side - it's over 10 minutes long and is excruciating!
ReplyDeleteplease do a second print of the fanzine. i'm sure it will sell out again in one week.
ReplyDelete^^^^^If it's marked as a "second edition" it definitely will.
ReplyDeleteJust to plug this - it's out on Oct 11th but I have my copy already - the new album "We Come As Aliens" by Vic Godard and Subway Sect - on CD through Overground and limited vinyl through Gnu Inc. Why am I promoting this on here? Simple. The album has two drummers on it - Paul Cook (yes that one) and a certain.....GARY AINGE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow 2 drummers!
ReplyDeleteWhat, like Adam and the Ants:)
LOL! No - after - I think it was 5 - songs - Gary had to step down from sessions due to a recurrence of a particularly nasty back injury that had to result in an op. Paul Cook stepped in to record the rest of the album. Currently the band have switched their bassist to drummer for live duties, and roped in the Bitter Springs bassist. Last I heard Gary was hoping to be back in the drummer's seat by November - not sure if that's still the case but I know he was recovering well.
ReplyDeleteOK then:)
ReplyDeleteAnd anyway I should have said the Glitter Band rather than Adam and the Ants (who just copied their 2 drummer thing). Also conicidently Adam did a couple of live songs with the Glitter band at the Scala recently, wonder if Lawrence was there?
Well, I really hope Gary is OK.
Nice on the ice! Heard some of the songs on Godard's "Myspace" site:

And good to hear that Ainge is recovering. Bless him.
Just read the BFI website and "Lawrence of Belgravia" hasn't made the line-up of the film festival yet again!
ReplyDeleteGutted:(
Having seen the preview 2 years ago, really looking forward to seeing this, never mind. Is it ever going to be finished though?
just saw a write up in fader about the fanzine, please reprint!!! i would love to have a copy in my FELT collection!
ReplyDeletea fan in New York City
Don't worry, I'm sure the "second edition" (with the white cover) is being printed as we speak!
